The goal of the project is to investigate collocated–synchronous photo capture and sharing as a significant under–explored domain of digital photography and network visual communication. Specifically, we will design and implement a novel photo capture and sharing application, Mobiphos. Mobiphos will target small social groups that capture images together. For example, a group of friends may use Mobiphos to capture and share images while visiting a city together.
Accomplishments:
- Iteratively designed, built, and evaluated a mobile photo sharing application.
- Delivered a source code and documentation to Samsung.
- Acceptance and presentation of a technical paper based on the work conducted in this project at MobileHCI 2008 [Clawson et al. 2008]
- Conditional acceptance of a journal paper based on the work conducted in this project in a special issues of the International Journal of Human Computer Studies [Patel et al., 2008]
- Collaborative extension of the original statement of work that includes:
- Deployment and evaluation of the mobiphos system in Seoul Korean. This evaluation specifically investigated the cultural differences between use of the system by Korean teenagers and American college students.
- This investigation will result in the submission of a journal paper to the International Journal on Mobile Human Computer Interaction which is currently being written collaboratively by both Samsung and Georgia Tech researchers.
- On going patent discussions between Samsung and Georgia Tech researchers
